How Great is this Treasury!

I just love this treasury I am in ( was in, I should say, as I sold a Camper towel after 4 minutes on the Front Page - wooot!).

I had to show this collection - how fun and eclectic. I would love to go to this "Fondue Party". Thanks so much to Kira for including me - check out her shop as well. She has some really terrific jewelry!

Just for Fun.

Ok - so I didn't actually get this lovely group into a real Treasury - Rats!

I have tried, sort of, but I seem to calculate the time both the regular Treasury and Treasury West would become available incorrectly(......for days). I had hoped to show off these things and images as a nod to the year(s) my new house was built. Don't all of these look nice together? I will list the Etsy Shops below - so if you do like something you can see it yourself.

Have a great day!

Printsy Thursday #8.

Boxes are piling up for the "big move" next Wednesday - and It's not Thursday - but I am excited to post about this week's choice for Printsy Thursday anyway (I'm not changing the name)!!

I found Mariann Johansen-Ellis' Etsy shop a couple of months ago on Etsy and was so inspired by her work. The truly lovely and whimsical images can only make you smile. I feel as if her characters are very much alive and enjoying themselves in their fantasy land.

I have a sister in-law due with a new baby in a couple of weeks and my own little sister is having a baby next spring - so I have been looking for little lovelies that might be welcome additions to their new nurseries. How could you loose with any of these beautiful etchings.

Mariann has a website as well called "Art can be fun" which features her smaller pieces and another site which features her larger paintings and etchings - don't miss them as you will be wowed by her amazing quality and number of pieces. I am attaching a link - here - that shows her etching process from utube. I think for anyone who has not tried to etch - or just wants to know how much work really goes into printmaking in general - it's a perfect tutorial. I certainly learned a lot about how the colors are applied ( which was a bit mysterious to me).

So enjoy and remember "Art can be fun!!"

Back and Busy.

Things are getting busy.

My trip to California last week just added a bit of distraction and fun and sadness as my very wonderful uncle died - and we were celebrating his life. I couldn't cry when I was surrounded by my family, as I love to see them and it was a happy reunion of sorts. But when I left on the Bart to go see my best friend in Piedmont - the tears came. I am so sad that he is gone - it is a part of my life that confirmed my kid-ness. And now that things are changing - I feel like I am on the front line of life - as the previous front line is getting thinner.

Ok - enough of that - just had to give the reason for my delinquency and absence to my posting.

All kinds of nice (other) things are happening:

1. With my new house - it looks like camp Graeff will begin in a week or so. We are going in - with a kitchen or not. Will show pics in a couple of days of progress.

2. Started a new consulting job in New York - back in the saddle again. I'm working with some very nice people - doing some fun top secret things. Perhaps I might be able to fill you in later ( I'll need to ask my boss ;)

3. Finished a very pretty House Portrait - "the House with the Red Door" - is now called "40 Parker" - and some pics will be posted next.

4. Received a very nice convo from Flowerpress this morning that we ( a bunch of us on Etsy who hand print tea towels) are featured on a fairly well read blog called My Home Style. Here is the link if you would like to see!

I have been especially delinquent with my Printsy Thursday - I have some favs. I would like to show - but I think many are out for vacation( I have not gotten permission yet) - I may post as soon as I have the OK.

OK - back to work...

Happy Early Birthday To - Me.

OK my big day is not for two weeks (so no songs yet). I was looking at these lovely ceramics by ShoshonaSnow on Etsy- and decided what a great birthday present to get for myself. My hubby said - "perfect" ( I asked because I wanted to make sure he did not have any special gift planned). Shoshona was really great about packing everything so nicely and - right away - (I feel like I just ordered them yesterday )- They came in the mail.

I just had to show them off in these two photos (two of my hand-printed table cloths are under the pieces).

After chatting I found out Shoshona loves lino-block printing too - and her carving of the clay is a way of getting that type of graphic pattern into her work. I was attracted to the graphic nature right away - go figure.

I can't wait to display these in my new house. (The house - unfortunately cannot be packed up and shipped right away like these pieces - and looks like mid July for a move-in date, She says, waiting patiently).
